Chix With Stix

Met with the Jamaica National Hockey team yesterday to do some photos for a promotion they are working on. I didn't get what I originally planned, as we started late and they had a match, but I am posting this shot for the strobists. Here we were just messing around, setting up the lights. Incidentally, some wind picked up and my umbrella came smashing down and broke clean at the latch. End of that...
Strobist info: Nikon D300, 1/40sec, ISO 200, Nikon 24-85mm lens, f/4, Nikon SB-800 Speedlight hoisted on a stand with a 36" umbrella, set to manual full power and triggered by PocketWizards

The Upper Room

The morning sun streamed through the windows as I entered the room. The watchman uttered how messy it was, but I was in awe. Situated at the top of Simms Hall at Jamaica College, this room was not very accessible to the general school population, thus keeping its 'reverence' intact. The walls of this holy place bore graffiti and signatures of past students dating back to 1950s, even those of currently prominent Jamaican icons. I didn't spend enough time to see if it dated further back, but the room was laden with rich history... if only walls could speak.

Cork Screwed

I've been collecting wine corks for a while to make a piece of art. That's going slowly though. While playing with a few of them last night Anique and I decided to do some macro work. I used florescent desk lamp for lighting.

Tech info: Nikon D300, Nikon 24-85mm Lens, Shutter 1/80, Aperture f/3.5, ISO 400.

Make Up Anyone?

Sometime ago I went to shoot the exec members of Swallowfield Chapel for their website. Eddie was my PA and Monique and Dana were make up artists. Dana also organized the charade. Eddie wanted his photo taken afterward but the ladies just would not leave him alone! I just kept snapping...!

Mushroom Anonymous

Someone said to me they notice I have an affinity to mushrooms and they were wondering why. My immediate response was that they come in different shapes and size and you have to get really low and dirty to get them most times, and its intriguing... Now I'm thinking what the hell is so intriguing about that? hmm.

This shot was done at a photo workshop I had for some young people, primarily teenagers. Nikon D300, 80 - 200 mm lens, aperture f/4, shutter 1/60sec at ISO200. Contrast adjusted and image sharpened in Aperture 2.1

"Model"... Anyone?

While setting up for a shoot, Duran was acting as my PA. He sat for a bit while I tested the lighting, by popping a few images. I played around with these shots in Photoshop CS3 and Aperture.

Transcending, Part II

Vanessa was 9 months pregnant with her first baby. I visited her at home in Florida today and we chatted for a bit. That's when you realize that time goes by real quickly. It seemed like just yesterday she was this child that was so upset with me for letting some unscrupulous individual steal a lovely piece of artwork she had spent 2 weeks on, under my supervision. This was actually some 12 (or more) years ago at VBS. Now she is transcending...

The orange light from the evening sun streamed through the windows creating a lovely ambiance in the living room. I shot a few of Vanessa, then Romie joined after.
